Dear Reader,

The first month of spring 2016 has already unveiled a great amount of new challenges and opportunities in the EU research and innovation scene.

First off, the European Commission has launched a stakeholder consultation for the preparation of its 2018-2020 Work Programme of Horizon 2020 Societal Challenge 5 “Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw”: check this page to have a peek at the policy priorities for the next work programme and share your thoughts to contribute to the shaping of the research funding landscape.

Also, new dates for H2020 Info Days have been released:

If you are already managing a H2020 project, you may be interested in the video recording of the Coordinators’ Day, which took place in Brussels on 24 February 2016 and focused on issues related to Grant Agreement Amendments and Reporting under Horizon 2020.

We can also help you clarify your thoughts on financial issues of FP7 and Horizon 2020 projects, as well as dispel any EC audit-related fear: join our “FP7 & H2020 Master of Finance and Administration” training course on 17-18 March 2016 in Budapest; we will share our experience with financial management and reporting and EC audits of FP7 and H2020 projects, focusing on typical bottlenecks, tricks and mistakes.

We hope to see you there!

The H2020 SME Innovation Associate: matching SMEs up with talented researchers

The H2020 SME Innovation Associate is a new pilot action under the Horizon 2020 programme, supporting European SMEs and Start-ups to recruit post-doctoral research associates from other countries to explore an innovation business idea.

The action aims at overcoming barriers for EU SMEs and Start-ups to the recruitment of highly qualified specialists that are not available on the national job market.

I had the chance to attend NACUE’s Student Enterprise Conference (SEC) at UCL on the weekend of February 20th-21st, which has been organised in partnership with our MY-WAY project. As some of you might remember, MY-WAY is about supporting young adults in becoming successful web entrepreneurs.

The SEC was full of inspiring talks, practical workshops and networking opportunities. The talks for young people were encouraging and answered many questions they had in mind as well as had many tips how to deal with the next steps ahead. You should have felt the energy coming from these young people! It was inspiring for all of us.
