While space exploration might seem a bit distant for our daily routines, more precise medical tests, greener and safer transportation, improved urban environment, advancement of AI within the service industry or smart prosthetic limbs will definitely have a positive impact on our future and the life of the next generations in Europe and beyond.
The report, produced by the joint European Commission–EIB initiatives InnovFin Advisory and European Investment Advisory Hub, established under Horizon 2020 and the Investment Plan for Europe respectively, assesses the current investment landscape in the space industry, identifies gaps in financing and proposes key recommendations and solutions to improve the existing conditions.
A new brief prepared by the JRC shows that energy produced from biomass represented 59% of the EU's renewable energy consumption (and 10% of all energy sources) in 2016. Bioenergy is helping the EU to meet its target of 20% renewable energy by 2020. Consumption is expected to increase as the EU works towards its 2030 targets. Bioenergy is also expected to have a key contribution to the EU's 2050 long-term strategy.
The 2019 EU report on Policy Coherence for Development confirms its key contribution to the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The report takes stock of progress by EU institutions and Member States on Policy Coherence for Development over the period 2015-2018, within the changing global development context following the adoption of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
