Europa Media and Geonardo are excited to announce the official start of the START2ACT project ‘Engaging European Start-ups and young SMEs for Action for Sustainable Energy’ with the Kick-off Meeting that took place in Budapest on March 9-10 2016. The meeting was attended by the representatives of all 11 partners from 10 countries.
START2ACT is a three-year project funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, and aims to increase energy efficiency through behavioural change, sowing the seeds of a sustainable energy culture in European start-ups and young SMEs, with a view to achieving potential energy and cost savings.
Europa Media is in charge of the management and coordination of the project, together with Geonardo as co-coordinator.
In the course of the project, diverse activities will be implemented across Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the UK with the aim of triggering action at SMEs and start-ups towards energy efficiency measures at workplace. These will include on-site training courses and business breakfasts for companies. In addition, an Interactive Online Platform will be developed including a STAR2ACT Knowledge Base, an e-learning course, an energy saving competition, and a social platform.
After the implementation all of these measures, the project is expected to achieve a considerable reduction of energy consumption at workplace as well as in the daily lives of the targeted employees and entrepreneurs.
The biggest challenge of this project, without a doubt, is to engage the maximum number of companies and consumers ready to implement the measures that will lead to achieving great energy savings.
Nowadays, saving energy and energy efficiency are topics that concern everyone. However, even though many people are aware of the necessity of taking action, they are still not active due to lack of knowledge on how o implement the available measures. By providing them with the right tools and tips, people can get motivated to introduce and implement these measures in their daily lives. This is what START2ACT will aim to achieve over the next three years: enabling action by people.
