This course is about laying the foundations in the proper way. Essentials - the first part of the series – will be introducing all financial rules to EU funding in general and specifically to the R&I framework programmes.

A sound understanding of the financial rules applicable to your research and innovation project is key for good budget development as well as for proper implementation. We will introduce the essentials of finances in H2020/HE to make sure you get things right from the very beginning.

The webinar will be introducing practical examples of all financial rules that will help you to put the gained knowledge and information into the proper context.

Topics of discussion:

  • How to harmonise national accounting protocols with the H2020/HE Grant Agreement articles

  • Budgeting and planning: Why it is the most crucial part?

  • What is a cost-reimbursement? What is lump-sum financing?

  • Actual costs and unit costs? Which one should I choose?

  • What makes any cost eligible? How to make them eligible?

  • Linking a cost to the project? What makes them direct costs?

  • Can I report indirect costs? If not, why not?

Why this webinar?

We have 20 years of experience in developing and implementing projects under the EU's research framework programmes. Under Horizon 2020, we have been involved successfully in over 30 projects, coordinating six of them. This event, as always, has been designed based on our direct hands-on experience with EU research and innovation proposals and is therefore 100% practice-driven.  Over the past 15 years, we have delivered 500+ events attended by 10,000+ participants.
