Call analysis in Horizon Europe

There is more in the call text you are targeting than you think.

A crucial first step before conceiving any Horizon Europe proposal is to conduct a systematic analysis of the "call text" that you are planning to target.

Call (work programme topic) analysis helps decode the Commission’s expectations and ensure that your proposal concept is aligned with them. Many elements to be included in the different sections of your Horizon Europe proposal are in fact “hidden” in the text of the work programme topic you are targeting. If analysed systematically, the call text can help you determine in a structured way:

  • The proposal objectives;

  • Methodologies to be employed;

  • Activities to be conducted;

  • Outputs to be delivered;

  • Partners to be included;

  • Stakeholders to be engaged;

  • Target groups / end-users to be targeted;

  • Cross-cutting priorities to be embedded in the proposal design.

This exercise can provide you with valuable pieces of input which can be directly utilised in the Excellence, Impact and Implementation sections of your proposal. Call analysis also includes uncovering the "background" and "driving force" of the call, such as the policy backdrop, strategic documents, related past/ongoing projects and initiatives, studies and publications.

We will introduce the rationale and scope of the call analysis approach, and conduct live a call analysis exercise on a real Horizon Europe work programme topic, showing how to identify all of the above elements and incorporate them into the proposal template. We will showcase an RIA and an IA topic for comparing the specificities of these two action types, explaining how to approach them differently.

Join us to learn how to decipher the Horizon Europe call texts and get your proposal writing process started on the right foot and deliver 100% on the Commission's expectations. After the webinar, you will be able to apply the call analysis methodology to any Horizon Europe work programme topic(s) you are targeting.
