Typical mistakes in Horizon Europe proposals – Showcasing negative comments from Evaluation Summary Reports (ESRs)
The best way to improve your proposal writing skills and your success rate is to actually write and submit proposals. The second best way is to learn from the evaluators' feedback – both positive and negative.
As of now, the first half of Horizon Europe is over. We are about to run out of calls under the 2023-2024/2025 work programmes, and the draft work programmes of 2025 have started circulating with the final ones to be published in spring 2025.
The evaluation summary reports (ESRs) of our successful as well as unsuccessful Horizon Europe proposals in the past 4 years have allowed us to draw several conclusions on the key success criteria of competitive proposals.
Join us to hear our take on the Commission's and the evaluators’ expectations on the different sections of a Horizon Europe proposal: from objectives to methodology, ambition to impact, dissemination to IP management, work plan to horizontal aspects – we will showcase what the evaluators criticised and how they down-scored proposals on the award criteria. Based on these, we will provide tips on how to fix those potential shortcomings in your upcoming proposals.
